ARE Spaniards White or Hispanic?

Ok this is a huge deal to me because my ancestors are from spain and france. And since i live in texas people seem to be bias against mexicans(which are hispanics) because of illegal immigration. So when i tell people my ancestors are from spain they say im hispanic. And when i dont tell them that they assume im mexican just because i have a darker tan and dark brown/black hair. So i want to clarify if i am all white or half white half hispanic? Im just confused
